Dark-Light Prologue

The soft sunlight bathed the clouds in a warm orange light, while the enormous buildings didn’t let any of the rays reach even one leaf on the trees of the forest behind them. Moments before the sun sank behind the far horizon, a white figure formed from the shadows cast down by the forest canopy. The full moon shone brightly in substitute to the sun. The pale white moonlight was filtered through nest of leaves and branches to form ghostly silhouettes on the forest floor.

The white figure rose from its squat position slowly and silently prowled the undergrowth. A maiden ghost whose identity was concealed in the shadows of her hood and cloak. She reached out with a gloved hand to stroke the mosaic of moonlight and shadow. Light pulsated where the moonlight touched her hand. She stopped abruptly in her tracks and gazed up into the still night.

The stillness and silence was interrupted by mechanical whirring, and a strong gust of wind approached. Two aerial vehicles zoomed over the forest, the following blast of wind threw off the maiden ghost’s hood as she stood her ground. The face of a girl coming of maturity was revealed vividly in the pale moonlight.

Before the fallen leaves settled on the ground, the maiden had already figured her position was in jeopardy and sprinted down the path.
